Cranberry Rotary Club Meeting

 May 4, 2010

I'm not sure where to begin with today's meeting - it was interesting. I wasn't sure if the interesting part began when Buffo the Clown picked me up or when he made Dave and I wear clown noses...

Anyway, before the "clowning around" began, we discussed a few items:
  • Keep selling those cruise tickets. Need help? Just see Glen and he can work with you to make sure all your tickets are sold.
  • The Golf Outing is planned for Aug. 23, at Old Stonewalls. Jeffrey handed out last years sponsor list to each person. We're just a little over three months away and we need to begin seeking golfers, tee ads and sponsors. Costs remain the same as they were last year. Hillary is also working on an e-mail blast that will go out in a few weeks. Fliers will be coming soon.
  • Don't forget the highway cleanup on Tuesday, May 11. Meet at the YMCA at 6 p.m. This is in place of our regular meeting, so try your hardest to be there.
  • Note to board members: we will still have our board meeting at 11 a.m. on May 11.
  • The Health Seminar Fundraiser with Drs. Erin and Nick Greiner will be held from 1-4 p.m. on June 19 at the YMCA. An e-mail with more details will be coming soon.
  • The Rotary Gardens need a spring overhaul. Work dates: 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 13, and again at 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 22. Let me know, if you haven't already, which day you plan to be there.
  • Thanks to Trip and his lovely wife, Diane, for joining me and Shawn at the Cranberry Sunrise Rotary's 10th Anniversary Party. We all need to begin thinking about our 40th, which is June 2011. Start thinking of ideas!!
  • The Service Above Self Awards Dinner is at 6:30 p.m. on May 26, at The Camelot. Letters to the winners have been sent and once they have received their notices, I'll be sure to share with you who they are!
Finally, thanks to Buffo the Clown for making us all laugh today. He shared with us his athletic past, and his important work with special needs children. He also entertained us with his feats of strength (ripping a phone book in half!).

See you at the highway clean up!
